Thumbs up!

Thursday, June 4th, 2009

Hey friends,

I took a small break from blogging last week, but I’m back and raring to go!

This week’s page marks a turning point in our story. So far we’ve been watching one big flashback, a flashback that feels like it’s been going on forever. That’s the danger of doing a long-form webcomic and only updating once a week. Brian and I knew it would take a long time to come full circle, but here we are and hopefully you’ve enjoyed the ride. If nothing else, it should satisfy all of those people who have been wondering what was up in the first page of the comic (if you haven’t forgotten about it in the year-and-a-half since we first published it).

And it’s nice for Brian and I to finally see this next part of the story unfold. We’ve got about three or four more pages of Issue 2 to go, and then maybe a page or two of supplemental material before we begin Issue 3.

Let’s get to it!

I like the glows…

This week I went kind of overboard with the glow and reflection effects. I won’t apologize for it. In my head, the Hall of Trophies should have the same feeling of majesty as the Fortress of Solitude, but with the sensibilities of the trophy room in the Batcave. I think Brian and I did it justice.

Three more pages to go until the end of Issue 2! Things will lighten up again. Eventually. So stick around!

Hello again.

I’ve become what’s known to comic fans as a ‘trade-waiter’. That means I don’t pick up individual 22 page comics anymore, preferring to wait until five or six issues of a comic are released (usually a single complete story arc) and collected into a single trade paperback or hard cover edition. What this means is that I don’t get my weekly fix of comics, and I don’t go to the comic book store as often as I would like.

That being said, it’s not a bad life. I’ve recently purchased a bunch of trades that are outside the superhero genre of  comics that I probably would  not have purchased as single issue floppies. And I would have been missing out on some damn fine reading.

100 Bullets, Y: The Last Man, The Walking Dead, The Lone Ranger, Hack/Slash. It seems there’s a genre for any type of story you’d like. And it turns out I like them all. Check ‘em out if superheroes are getting a bit stale. And if you have any that you’d recommend, let me know. I’m always on the lookout for a good book (superhero or not).

See ya next week.

When did it get so depressing?

Hey peeps.

It’s still technically Wednesday where I’m at, so I can still claim that I didn’t miss the deadline to upload, am I right fellas? Fellas?

Not too much to report this week. Maybe gonna go see Transformers, might read some new Green Lantern comics, and maybe celebrate my 4 year wedding anniversary (not necessarily in that order).

So when Melisa gets up tomorrow morning and reads this, I would like her to know that I’m still glad I married her and I adore her completely. She puts up with my nerdiness, and somehow hasn’t been put off my geeky pursuits. I love ya, baby!

Until next week
